Edgecombe Ave Residence

The project is located in a landmarked building in Sugar Hill District, Harlem. This 800 SF apartment was transformed for a young translator who contributes to Japanese architecture literature publishing.

The master bedroom is capped with exposed birch plywood walls. The bathroom is designed as a silver “capsule” from the outside, and the breakfast room sits between exposed brick walls. All materials, fixtures and appliances selected were ethically produced and sustainably sourced. Custom yellow plywood cabinetry was made to accommodate wheelchair accessibility requirements.
